Once upon a time ....

(warning: this could be a little bit long (for my doing,) and maybe a little bit boring ...)

.... There were those great guys somewhere, who invented the Sims.
And somewhere in a small country somewhere in Europe there were 2 girls, who were very excited about this game. So when the game came out, those girls desided to give it a try.

... and number 3 ...

I know I said to get you this update on Saturday, but there really wasn't any time to write it, so I'm giving you this one on sunday ....
Welcome to SimsVille High!
It's located right across the beach, so the students can dream about what they will do after school when they are supposed to be studying.
The building all to the right is the sports-building, with a basketball-court and changingrooms.
The main building, the one on the left is for everything else. On the main floor you'll find the cafetaria, the arts-class and music-class.
Upstairs there is a library, and 2 classrooms, as well as the principal's (Hans Mokara) office.

Of course there is also a "playground" I've put donw an soccer-goal and some benches because I don't think teens need an actual playground with toys.

So here's number 2 ...

I have 2 updates (almost reayd) to post! They are both dealing about the new school in SimsVille. This update however is all about the new SimsVille Up Hill Elementary School.
I know there isn't much decoration on the outside, but I simply forgot to decorate the outside, and only saw this now, when I uploaded the pictures, so maybe this will change in the future.
Anyway this is the front of SimsVille Up Hill Elementary!
When you entere you have the stairs immediatly on your left, on the right there is the cafetaria.
When you walk past the stairs, you'll find the bathrooms, and the library, with some computers, around the corner their is another hallway.
At the end of this hallway you'll find the basketball court, with next to it the dressing rooms.
When you take the stairs to go up, there is the office of the principal, Marie Gerrits. And next to the office are 2 classrooms.
On the other side of the stairs, there again bathrooms. You'll also find the arts-class there and the music-class.
Of course there is a playground too, with lots of things to do for the pupils.

Notes:

• I'm sorry for the quality of the pictures. I've tried to take pictures from the in the building itself, but that didn't seem to work at all. you can click on the pictures for a larger view, but I don't think the quality will be any beter.
• I'm building a lot these days. I've even banned myself from playing untill I've build everything! Good news; SimsVille and SimsVille Up Hill are almost finished! Next up is Simmeria (my downtown-area), but I don't have that much work anymore there too. I still need to build some dorms, but I've never done that, and I don't know how to start...

The first sneak-peek into the new SimsVille

I'm still moving in my sims, and I'm still building all of my community lots, but I just finished the first one, and I'm so proud of it, I though I'd share it with you all.
So let me welcome you the SimsVille's Town Hall!
When you enter, you come in the reception-area. On the right is a waiting-area and the recepiost's deks.
On the left there are the bathrooms, and the snack machinees.
The doors next to the stairs lead the to the chapel.
Where there also is a space to celebrate the wedding.
Upstairs you have a cafetaria.
And a large library.
There is also the room where the governor meet the residents.
With an ensuite office.

Notes:

• I know it's not much, but I like it, it took me 2 hours to create it, and I hope you like it!
  
• I stil don't know if I'm going to have a governor, but if I do, I figured he will need an office. When I deside on having a governor, I think I will let him buy this lot, and hire a receptionist, but we'll see when it comes to that.
  

A sincere apology!

I want to apologise for the lack of updates and comments and responses to coments lately. Like I've said before I'm finding it harder and harder to find a good balance between simming, blogging, reading, and real life.
It's strange actually, because it all used to go so well, I never had any problems with balance before. Everything used to go so good, and now something is always comming up.
There is some good new however; in a few weeks, I have a week off from work. On the other hand, the weather here in Belgium is getting beter, so maybe I won't be home that much to do some simming.
Sometimes I feel like it's my own fault though, because of all the "projects" I'm working on:

• I'm currently working on making my flashnote a little bit easier for me to use, a task that is taking up a lot more time than I expected.
• I'm also working on a new look for my simprofiles, wich I think (and my sister agrees) is looking a lot beter. You can have a preview here, it's not completely finished, and I still have to update all the profiles.
• After reading this post at LaQuest Beach and the fact that my game is really strange at some times, I thought it was time to reset SimsVille. So currently I'm not really "playing", but moving sims and families and building houses and community lots and decorating the hood.

On top all there "projects" I, of course, have to keep simming, blogging, reading, commenting, and livigin my own life!
So yet again, I'm sorry for the lack of updates, comments, and responses on comments, but bear with me, I still have a few updates ready for publication, and I hope to find a good balance really soon!

Note: - I'm so sorry for the bad quality in pictures!! In my game they always look so good, but when I upload them they always look like this! I tried Imageshack, but the picture looks like this, and I don't think there is much of a difference. - You may recognize the schools from Sullivan, I adjusted them to my taste, but like I said before, I'm not creative, and all my creativity-skills are used to rebuild Upper SimsVille. - I think Marie will have her hand full with her 10 students, and Hans will not have an easy time either, because 6 girls are not a treat! - SimsVille is in desperate need of some boys!!
- I also need some help; how do you get the cafetaria-worker in the schools? If some one knows, please let me know!

End of round 7

So finally it's the end of round 7, and as promissed there will be some changes in round 8. More about that later. First of all I want to congratulate our university graduates:

So, now it's time for the rest:
First of all there is going to be a change in the rotation. From now on a round will start in the winter, instead of the fall. So round 8 will start in the winter of 2014 and will end in the fall of 2015. This means there will be no fall 2013.
I changed this because it will be eassier for the new birhtday-system; from now on there will be no birthdays during the time I play with a family. Every birthday will be celebrated in the winter. If someone will be 55 in 2015, he will celebrate his birthday in the winter of 2015.
Also new in round 8, will be the schools. I have desided to have a primary and a high school in SimsVille. Principal of the high school will be Hans Mokara, and principal of the primary school will be Marie Gerrits, who you will get to know during round 8. I'm not as creative in contructing schools, I'm recently rebuilding Upper SimsVille, and it takes up almost all of my building creativity, so I downloaded the primary and high school available at Sullivan (thank you Carla). I've put schools in because, hardly any of my sim-children are teens know each other, and I want that to change. I don't think I will blog about the schools, after all I don't blog about university either, but I haven't desided about that yet. I will try to upload a school picture every round.

To finish this of, I'm thinking about introducing ROS in my hood, I'm still working an a ROS-file, I don't know when it will be ready, but I hope it will be by the start of round 9.

A late Valentine's special!

Since every one was doing it, and I really loved it, I wanted to do some Valentine's special for SimsVille too. I don't have ACR, I tryed installing it last night, but it didn't do what the instructions said it was suppossed to do (after several trys), so I stopped trying, and since I LOVE conytrolling my sims myself, I didn't mind that much.
But anyway, since I don't have ACR, I don't have scores for my couples. So I picked some of my favourites.

1 Sohpie Mikkels and Lucas Zanobi

They have been together since they both were 15, and they haven't been with any one else ever since, they haven't even looked at any one else! They may have had their differences sometimes, but wich couple hasn't. They are together for 24 years now, and they have 2 children; Emma and Julian.

2. Biana Draajing and Frederik Penninkmeijer
Some may say Frederik isn't capable of loving anything else but his work. But when you know Bianca and Frederik are married for 31 years now, there must be love! After all he agreed on having 6 children, just because Bianca wanted it!

3. Eve and Jonas Draper
Like Eve said herself one time; they may never have been fit to take of children, but when their daughter died and left 2 children, Eve and Jonas put their differences aside to be a family the children needed.

4. Yin Min and Hans Mokara
Her family never was too happy about her choice in man, but dispite that, Hans always fought for keeping his girl, and now he got accepted by her family! They don't have much money, but they still were able to create a loving home for their 3 children.

5. Nuan and Marc Mishoen
They never gave up, not even when they were growing apart, instead they looked for some shared interest all over again, and found that in their newborn grandson!

6. Fen Mishoen and Goofy Kardinaal
He was able to heal her broken heart after Gunnar broke it. Together they were able to change their lifestyle, and overcome their fears; like getting married.

7. Tika Mishoen and Xiang Zang
They look so sweet together! They don't have anything in common except their love for one another, and their adorable little boy, and what more do you need in life but love?

8. Debby and Kürt Gradonni
When Debby and Kürt announced that they were moving to start their own business, everybody thought they were crazy. But after all these years they made it! Maybe it was perseverance, but if you would ask them, they would say it was their love for each other.

9. Yena and Tao Zang
After raising 3 boys to adults, you would think love has worn off. But with Tao and Yena this isn't true, not even a little bit! If anything, you might say their love has gotten stronger!

10. Stella Terrano and Nio Mishoen
Althougt they met on the internet, and everyone thought that it wasn't going to last, Nio and Stella are still strong and prooving everybody wrong.

So this was it, there is no special reason I put the couples in these order, it's just random. There are other couples in SimsVille I love, but I just picked 10.
I hope to have a new update ready tomorrow, I really want round 7 to be finished, and start round 8, there are going to be some changes!

End of round 6

Thanks to the fast reaction of Maisie on my previous post, I think I was able to fix my sims 2-game! So "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!" I don't know if I could have handled it, if I had to start all over again, again!

So I can start blogging again, and I will start with my findings of my new rotation-system. I love it, I absolutely love it! It seems like things are progressing much slower than they used to do, but this give me time to enjoy my sims even more. It seems like sims stay in a lifestage much longer and therefor are able to enjoy that lifestage much more. And the pregnancies and the births, are so much more real!

As for round 6; Abby Gradonni, Annie Gradonni, Catherine Penninkmeijer and Sya Mishoen, all finished their first 2 years at university succesfully. They will start their 3rd year in round 7, and will also graduate.

As for the couples that are engaged; Xian Zang and Tika Mishoen, Xun Zang and Tosca de Groot and Nio Mishoen Stella Terrano, they will all get married during round 7, I just have to figure out how I will do that. As soon as I know, I will let you all know!

I'm also thinking about adding some extra's in my play-style, and for now I'm thinking about ROS, but I'm still thinking about scenario's, and since I'm not really creative about those king of things, it can take a while.

As for now, the new playlist is updated here, soon I will add familypictures to the simprofiles-page.

Some really frustrating problems!!!

After downloading some new stuff, I have some problems with starting the game!
It starts, but only one time, I can play for hours, but when I close the game and want to restart, it just won't. It doens't say anything, it just won't do a thing!
I have tried everything and don't know what to do now! I've put in the back-up game, and like said before, it starts the first, time but after that it doesn't anymore!
But I really hate this, there always goes something wrong with the game when I finally gotten it started, so I'm really thinking hard about what I'm going to do!

Too many?

I'm a huge download-fanatic. Everytime I find something I like, I download it. I recently discoverd Piggi's Sims, and I'm still donwloading.
You can never have enough stuff for your sims! But it has put my number of downloads to a rather high number (+ 15.000!).
Everytime I start deleting items, I think 'maybe I'll need them some day', and so nothing ever leaves the download folder!
I don't know if others are like this too, but I just thought I'd share it with you.

How I play

At the end of round 5, I've decided to change the rounds in SimsVille. Starting round 6 I will be using the 2-year system, like used in Lakeside Heights and Sullivan.
In the 2-year system, my sims will age 2 years every round. I will use seasons, and not months to point out in wich time of the year we are. Each season will feature 3 or 4 families. Every family will be played for 2 days so they age 2 years. Birthday will be celebrated every fall, except for toddlers; they will age the same season, 1 year later. Pregnancies will last about 3 seasons, when a sim gets pregnant during winter, they will give birth during fall.
Round 6 will start in the fall of 2009 (like we are right now) and will end in the summer of 2011.
Round 7 will start in the fall of 2011 and will end in the summer of 2013, and so on.
Wich families are played in wich year and season you can follow here.

Aging

Babies will be babies for one day, to represent one year.
Toddlers will still have four days, representing ages 1-4.
Children will still have eight days, representing ages 4-11.

If my teens don't go to college, they will become adult at the age of 18, they will be a teen for eight days, to represent the age from 11-18. If my teens go to college they will leave at the age of 18 and will be there 4 yours, when they return the will be 22 and start their adult lifes.

Adults will have 38 days of adulthood, representing the age from 18-55, this is only if a sim doesn't go to college. If a sim does go to college, they will be 22 when they return, the duration of their adultlife will be 34 days.

Sims will be elders at the age of 55, and they will be elders for as long as I want them to be =)

Finances and taxes

Since I always thought that sims become rich to easy and to fast, I've added some things; like No inheritance after elder dies, to make it a little bit more dificult to get rich easy.
I've also added taxes, they have to be payed every 5th round, at the end of the round, next taxcollection will be in round 10, in the summer of 2019.

Every family will have to pay 10% of the total of their household funds + any money they have in bank accounts + the value of their lot. I find out the latter with the Lot Value button in Buy/Build mode. If a family is renting, they only pay taxes based on their household funds and bank accounts, as their lot does not really belong to them.

Sims can also claim deductions on their taxes. These deductions are:

1. §1500 deduction per dependent: "dependent" is defined as a child under 18, a full-time student under the age of 22 or a non-working elder.
2. §2000 deduction for farming families: the Sullivan Tax Office likes farming families because they enrich the community.
3. §1000 deduction for home ownership.
4. §1500 deduction for married couples.
5. Variable deductions for businesses, based on business rank. It ranges from §500 for a Rank 0 business to §5000 for a Rank 10 business.
   

Education and careers

To get into university, a sims must have 15 skill-points, and they have to pay §2000 every year they are at university.

To make it a little bit more real life, I desided to change to careers where sims need a university-degree; the following jobs require a university-degree; Architecture, Business, Education, Intelligence, Journalism, Law, Medicine, Natural Science, Oceanography, Politics and Science.

Sometimes a sim isn't able to go to university; for example they didn't get the required skill-points or didn't have enough money. Or maybe they were made an adult townie. For those sims there also is a sollution in SimsVille.
Any resident of Sullivan without a degree may undertake a correspondence course with Suffolk University at any time, for a tuition fee of §10,000.

To complete their degree, the Sim will use Monique's computer to write 14 term papers on 7 different subjects - in other words, 14 different articles on the 7 different skills.

Once they've handed in all 14 term papers, I'll consider them to have a degree, and they are allowed to get any job they want.

As you may have noticed I use a lot of things Sullivan uses too, that's because her system is the most suitable to use in SimsVille.

End of round 3, some new faces

I've made it through round 3 already, and I really hope my computer will last a lot more rounds. Because last time it gave after only 4! But now I have a new one, and I would be very disappointed (not to say mad) if a brand new computer can't handle Sims 2!

To start round 4, I'm going to introduce some new families. I love creating new families, and put them in their house, and think of stories for them. I also want some of my 'Azian' sims (Mishoen) to marry and start families with other 'Azian' sims. Therefor I created 2 new families, after spliting them up, this gives me 5 extra families to play.
Their profiles will soon be updated here for now you can read about the other families.

First there are the 2 Zang families:

Zang 1: Tao Zang is 46, his wife Yena is 42, their twin sons, Xiang and Xun, are 17 and the youngest, Yuan is 10. Tao is planning to open his own electronica business in SimsVille, together with his oldest son Xun.
Zang 2: Wang Zang is Toa Zang's brother, and is 40 years old, his wife is Chao and is 37, and their son, Bai, is 8 years old. They don't have such big dreams as his brother, they only dream of not working.

Then there are 3 other families, Min, Belio, and Mokara, they are all related.

Min 1: Patriarch to these families is Quan Min, a 30 year old man, with the wish and desire to become a gamedesigner. He's married to Chu Min, who is 29 years old, and wants to make it big in politics. Their daughter, Anna is 2 years old.
Belio 1: The Belio famili consists of 3 memders, for now. Ling Belio is the sister of Quan Min, and has also a twin, Yin Mokara. Ling is 25 years old, and is going to open a toystore in SimsVille. Her husband, Bram Belio, is 26 years old, and wil craft some of the toys they will be selling. Their daughter Johanna 1 year old.
Mokara 1: Yin Mokara is the twin sister of Ling Belio, and the other sister of Quan Min. She is 25 years old, and wants to become a name in the athletic career. Her husband is Hand Mokara, a 28 year old family sim, with a love for teaching.

My sims 3

Like many other simmers I have bought The Sims 3. For the last couple of days I have been playing it all the time. And I must admit I really like it (unlike some others apparently). It's not the same as TS2, but I think that's normal since it's a completly new game.
The play-style is completly different, and you can't play like TS2. That's why I will keep playing and blogging SimsVille, and the Eenling Legacy.

Eenling Legacy

Since I wanted a little break from SimsVille, I started the Eenling Legacy. This doesn't mean I will stop with SimsVille, this just means I will take a small break, and after that break, I will shift my time between both of them.
Soon I will be getting The Sims 3, and I will be shifting time some more, but knowing myself, that is something I need to keep interest in everything.
I hope you will enjoy the Eenling Legacy as much as I love playing them!

Starting SimsVille

This is how the hood looks at the beginning of round 1. SimsVille starts with 9 families, this are 24 sims in total.

Rai

Ella Rai, is 22. She studiet arts at SVU (SimsVille University), and is planning to do something with it in the rest of her life. She moved in to a 1-bedroom apartment and bought a community lot; "Rai Arts"

Zanobi

Stephan is 40, Virginie is 37, Lucas (right) is 10 and Dimitri (left) is 8. Stephan always had the dream of opening his own restaurant. Since he and Virginie share the same passion for cooking, they desided to move to SimsVille to open their restaurant; "Zanobi's". They temporary rent a small apartment, but they are sure that their restaurant will soon bring in ebough money to buy their own place.

Penninkmeijer

Frederik is 30 and graduated in Economics, and Bianca is 22 and graduated in psychology. Frederik is the heir of the poor branch of the Penninkmeijer family. When he finally inherrited something, he immidiatly packed his things and moved to SimsVille, with his fiance, to claim is herritage. Little did he know that his herritage was nothing but a dump.

Roque

Gunnar is 24 and Frieda is 22. They both graduated in history. Since music was always more Gunnars thing, he took out a loan and bought a community lot, to dedicate to his passion; "Gunnars' Music Café"

Gradonni

Kürt is 25 and Debby is 18. Allthough there is an age-difference between them, this never stopped Debby from following her big love where-ever he wanted to go. So when he desided to start his own form in a foreign town, she followed.

Mishoen

Gruns is 64, Lin-Mei is 60 and Fen is 23. Gruns allwas had his of fitness-center. But when the building he rented was sold, and he couldn't stay, he packed his things to open a fitness-center somewhere else. His youngest daughter, Fen, loves fitness as much as her father does and will help him in their business; "Mishoen Fitness Center"

Mishoen

Marc is 32, Nuan is 28 and Tika is 1. Next to her parents lives Nuan, she the oldest daughter of Gruns and Lin-Mei. In contrast to her sister and father, she's not into fitness at all. Instead she allways wanted her own beautysalon, wich she opened in SimsVille; "Mishoen Hair". She hopes to expand it soon and give massages as well.

Young

Louis is 62, Johnny is 37 and Mairi is 15. Louis and Johnny both had some losses in their lives. They both lost their wifes. When Johnny lost his dear wife, and mother of their daughter, his father moved in with him to help him take care of Mairi. Because the old town had to much memories for both man, they moved away to start a new life.

Draper

Jonas is 66, Eve is 64, Jason is 8 and Mia is 5. After the dead of their only daughter, Eve and Jonas took their grandchildren in; Mia was only 3 then and Jason only 6. They moved to SimsVille to give their grandchildren an education outside of the city.
