de Leeuw - January 2020

Last update/Next update

The de Leeuw Family
Harald is 28 and Elisa is 25
(Mairi Wagtmans is 50)
Narrated by Elisa
I've always dreamed of being able to buy our old house back. I loved living there, and I was kind of sad when mom sold the place. So when Harald and I finally saved some money, we took out a small loan and were able to buy the place in SimsVille.
I still love it here, and I have to say that our old apartment never really felt like home as much as this place does. I can tell Harald really likes this place as well.
As much as we both like the place, it has a lot of potential, and since we might have more than one child, we might need some more space later on. We invited my sister, Mairi, over. Mairi and I don't have much contact, but she's an architect so she seemed like the perfect person to contact.
She got what we wanted; like a bigger kitchen, and maybe an extra floor, but the numbers she came with were a lot higher than we expected. So after her visit, Harald and I decided to wait with our plans.
Besides we still have the wedding think about, and even though mom said she would pay a part, it's still going to cost a lot of money.
We've been looking at some places but we're still haven't decided on one just yet. There's so much to take in consideration, like how many people can be seated, and is there a place to hold the reception, ... and we really don't a lot of time left.
Despite the fact that we only have 8 months left to organise the whole thing, Harald and I don't spend all our free time on planning the wedding. It's impotant to both of us to spend time together, without talking about the wedding all the time.
We both like going ice skating, and since it's winter, most icerinks are open. It's very tempting to go down there every day, but I would love a perfect wedding as well, so I have to make choices.
As much as we both love ice skating, we're not very good at it, but it's still a lot of fun!

Notes:
  • At the moment I really have no idea where these two are going to get married. Their date is set for August 2020, so I can say they will have nice weather, which means I can do the wedding outdoor, but I haven't found (or build) the perfect location yet. I've made the guestlist and I know what dress she will be wearing :)
  • I always planned for Elisa to eventually move back to her childhood home, and redo it a little bit. I can't put up kids as an excuse for it, since her ideal family size is 1, but his is 3, so we'll see how many they eventually end up with :)
  • Mairi Wagmans really is Elisa's sister, but there's a huge age difference between the 2 of them, since Elisa is from a later relationship. Mairi moved out to university before Elisa was even born, and they hardly have any contact. I can say though that the Wagtmans family will be attending the wedding :)

  2. Oh, that's so awesome that Elisa and Harald were able to buy her old house! I hope they can save up some more money to extend a little, although seeing they don't have any kids yet, they can probably put that off for a while.

I love the picture of them at the diner, with Elisa talking and Harald focusing on the menu. She must be talking about dresses or flowers, or some other wedding thing guys don't care about!

BTW, where did you get the bows on the sides of the church benches/pews? I love those!

  3. Thanks for reading and commenting guys!

Apple Valley It seems like my sims are falling more than they are actually ice skating:)
I still have a lot of planning to do, but I'm looking forward to it as well.

Carla They have some time before they have to start extending, they have 1 spare bedroom, so when they start with kids, there's room :)
    It's a really tipical picture I think :)
The bow on the sides of the benches are actually wall hangings, and I believe they came with either celebrations or the holiday stuff pack.

  4. Love that they bought her old house! They are really sweet together, and watching them venue shop is fun, the church was really pretty. And indoor wedding in the summer = air conditioning. Wouldn't have to worry about a heat streak coming in and knocking out all the guests.

From Carla's question, I just realized that I think it's the same church I have in my game that I used for Reed and Caroline's wedding. It's decorated differently, but it has the building behind the altar for celebrations, no? Love what you did with the lot, it's very open and "springy" in feeling.
