Narrated by Jack

The month December didn't start that great for me; I made a bad decision at work and got fired because of it. I think a warning would have been good, but my boss thought otherwise.
So I've been at home ever since. It not like I don't do anything all day, well at least not every day.
I try to help out around the house as much as I can, so it doesn't all come down on Jo when she comes home from work.
I've also given financial advice on the internet. I know it doesn't bring in the big money, but at least it something.
After I didn't feel angry anymore, I started to think about my options. And after looking it all up on the internet, I decided to have a look at the fire station to see if they were recruiting.
I was immidiatly given a tour by this guy, Finn. Who also explained quite a lot to me about the recruiting.
It seemed like the fire department is always recruiting new guys, and if I was interested I should aply, but I had to be aware that this wasn't a game, and that there were real lifes at stake!
I was rather enthousiastic when I came back home. Unfortunatly Jo wasn't as happy about my plans. She kept going on about the fact that she wanted to buy a house some day, and maybe have another kids, and that she wanted it with me, and that that job was very risky, and she didn't want to loose me.
I know she's right, but I would have loved to hear something different. She did say she was going to support me if i decided to do it.
I love Jo, and I understand where she's coming from, but I really want to do this, and I told her so.
She said she's going to support me, but that I don't have to expect her to like it all the time.
Since it's Christmas holiday at Julie's school, I see Lawrence much more. There's a playground to our building, and Lawrence brings Julie and Olivia here quite a lot to play.
I really don't mind, I like spending time with my brother. Since we both have kids now, we don't spend nearly as much time together as we would like.
When I see Julie and Olvia, and Catherine's kids, I keep thinking about a sibling for Eli. I know Jo has been thinking about it as well.
Eli is such a great kid, and I'm sure he'll be  a great big brother if we decide to give him a sibling.
Jo and I have been talking about quite a lot lately, but with my current work-situation we don't think the time is right at all at the moment.
We've also agreed that before having another kid, we would have to move. I think it's doable to live in this apartment with 2 kids, but we want to be able to give each kid their own room. So at the moment we're looking at different houses, but haven't found one yet.
I don't think Eli lacks anything though. He has 3 loving aunts, and 4 uncles, and Jo's niece, Anna spoils him as well. She and Jo met before Christmas to get some Christmasgifts for the kids.
I don't think it was a good idea to open a toystore in Simmeria, Jo loves that store way too much!
When she came home I couldn't help but wonder if there were any toys left in the store.
Jo even got him a firetruck, which I really thought was sweet of her.
Despite being an only kid, Eli doesn't lack any attention what so ever! All 4 of his grandparents adore him. Even though he isn't mom and dad's only kid, they always make a lot of time for Eli.
It surprised me that mom and dad haven't asked about getting any more grandchildren yet, but I think they have quite a lot going on at the moment; they already have 7 granchildren, and Laura is getting married.
When mom and dad came over to give Eli his Christmaspresent, mom and Jo talked about this upcoming wedding all the time, both were pretty excited about it.
I was pretty happy they let it rest when dinner was served. I'm already married, I don't want to go through all the planning again, especially since it's not my wedding we're planning!
We also visited Jo's parents, for Christmas. They gotten Eli a gift as well. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but they got him a rocking horse, and the kid absolutly loves it! I think he would have slept on it if we'd let him.
Christmas time is always such a busy time, with lots of food. Jo's mom made an actual turkey. Bram said she has been preparing it for days.
It was great though! Neither Jo or I are bad cooks, but nothing really compares to her or mine mom's homemade meals!
After all the festiveties, and seeing Eli's full toybox, I had to admit it; our boy is rather spoiled, but neither Jo or I mind one bit!
I feel pretty lucky to have Jo in my life, and I'm really looking forward to even more years together. We also found a house we both like, and now we're counting down the days untill we can more in!

Extra:
I just think these 2 are stunning, and had to share this picture of them together.

Notes:
  • I really did find them a house I actually see them living in! It's one I've build myself a really long time ago. It still has only 2 bedrooms, but I'm looking to building them an extra room so they can have one more kid.
  • I'm still not sure about them having another kid, neither has rolled the want yet, and I still like the idea of Eli being an only child, but I like to keep their options open.
  • Jack lost his job due to a chance card. So I looked for another job using Apple Valley's and Carla's system (my combined list of the 2 is here), and firefighter came out as one of the options. I didn't think Jo would be too happy about her husband choosing such a risky job, but that she would still support him anyway.
Finn (the guy Jack is talking with) is one of the borther of the Collins family, who are one of my playable NPC's.
  • This is the second time you see a glimpse of Toy Soldier. It's a new toy store that opened in Simmeria, since I thought Simmeria needed one. It's owned by Kristianne Spits, one of my playable NPC's, and it's an idea I've had in my head for quite some time now.

  1. Love the way you've decorated the apartment for Christmas!
Seeing the new house will be interesting, maybe you'll give us a lot tour?

  2. I can definitely see why Jo wouldn't be too thrilled about firefighting as a career change for Jack. But you know, if this is really what's right for him, being happy at work might be worth the risk. Hopefully he'll be able to stay safe.

I'm glad they've found a house they like! They'll still move there whether or not they have a second child?

  3. Librarian I was glad I remembered it was december when I played this, I tend to forget these kind of things, which really is a pain when you write about it :)

The lot tour is written and scheduled, you'll see it soon enough!

    Thanks for reading!

Carla I see Jo as one to support her husband, but to still tell him how she feels about it, especially when it's something like this.

I've already moved them to the house, and I've also added the extra room, still not sure about another kid though, no wants from either of them yet ...

    Thanks for reading!

  4. Their apartment is lovely with all the Christmas decorations, and super welcoming. I really like them with only one kid, though I'm always a fan of more kids too. I really like their apartment, exterior of it too, but I can see why they'd like to move to a house. Bummer on the lost job, I just went through this in my game too, stinks. I can see why Jo wouldn't be happy with him taking such a risky job.

  5. Maisie I love them with just one kid, and I could see them having only one. But I'm also curious to see them with one more, and how that kid will turn out. I'm still not sure what I'll do with them. We'll see, maybe they'll roll the want for another one, and that is something I can hardly ever refuse them!
I can see Jack more as a firefighter than as a caterer, but it's not a riskfree job, and he has a family, so I can imagine Jo not being to happy about his choice, but still supporting him.

    Thanks for reading!
