Wagtmans - July 2024

Last update/Next update

The Wagtmans Family
Harry is 55, Mairi is 54, Camden is 14, Collin is 13
(Malcolm Landgraab is 14 and Julian Zanobi is 13)
Narrated by Mairi

With the start of the summer break, Collin celebrated his 13th birthday. We didn't allow him to give a big party, but instead he and Camden each invited a friend over to camp in our garden.
Both Malcolm and Julian live in SimsVille, but they go to school with Camden and Collin, and spend quite a lot of time at our place after school.
We've had quite a lot of rain this past spring, and I was a little bit worried that the sleepover wouldn't have nice weather, but it has been great! The boys were able to spend the entire time outside. When it became dark they spend hours talking in front of their tents.
At the end Harry had to go outside and tell it was time to get into their tents. But I'm sure both Camden and Collin said that the sleep-over was great and they wanted to know when they could do it again.
Both Harry and I have been rather busy with work, and it wasn't possible for either of us to take much time off from work, so we couldn't go on a holiday this year.
The boys didn't seem to mind though. We live close to the Avon Avenue Mall, where they have a nice commic book store, and they both spend quite a lot of time there.
There's also a small arcade, and whenever the weather isn't great, and they can't hang out outside, they head down there to play some videogames.
We also live right across the street from the beach, and because the great weather this month, Camden and Collin try to go there quite a lot as well. They meet with their friends...
Build sandcastels...
 Try to get a tan...
And they even try their hand on surfing. So I guess they were having a great summer.
At least that was what Harry and I were thinking, but it seemed like Collin though otherwise. One night we heard him talking on the phone with Julian about going to Club Dante.
I'm pretty sure neither Harry or I gave him premission to go there, so we were both surprised when we heard that.
I think 13 is too young to go clubbing, and I think Collin knew we would feel that way, and that that's the reason he didn't even aks anything and just went there.
For Collin's sake I hope he had a good time, because Harry stayed up all night to wait for him, and I can tell you he wasn't happy at all!
And he got even more angry when Collin just smiled when Harry caught him sneaking back in at  2am. I think it made him punishment worse, because Harry grounded him for the rest of summer break.
Lately I have been feeling pretty tired. I've been falling asleep whenever I took some time for me to rest.
In the begining I blamed it on work and not being able to take time off. Things at work have been very busy, especially now that my collegue, Abby, is on maternity leave.
I have been taking a lot of my work home with me, and haven't taken a lot of time for me to rest. I think it's been weeks since I had a real weekend, where I wasn't working.
It wasn't untill I started feeling sick and throwing up, that I started thinking that it wasn't just fatigue.
I had a feeling what it would be, so I made an appointment with Dr. Lamberts, to be sure. I was really happy that Harry could come with me.
Dr. Lamberts confirmed what I was already thinking; I'm pregnant!
She's a little bit concerned about my age, and she wants to follow me very close, which I can understand. She also told me to cut back on work, a lot, because the pregnancy would be harder than my others.
When Camden and Collin started school, Harry and I have discussed the possibility of having another child, and decided to let nature decide. When I reached 50, we didn't think it would happen again, so we are pretty excited about this.
We of course had to tell Camden and Collin. They were surprised at first, but when they thought about it a little bit they were kind of looking forward to it. I sure it's going to take some time to adjust, but we'll manage.

Notes:
  • So Mairi and Harry are - finally - expecting a 3rd child! I'm pretty excited about it.
I originally planned for them to have only 2 children, so when they had Camden and Collin, I first put them on birth control. But than I started playing with IFS, and both their IFS is 3. Their house has 4 bedrooms, and I kind of say them as the couple to have another baby later in life, so I took them of birth control, but it didn't happen untill this round - which was accutally the last round I was letting them try.
Mairi is due in April 2025!
  • The beach lot is a new lot in Simmeria, and it still needs some work, but I like how it looks in the summer. I can't wait to take some more sims there.

  1. That really was a surprise!
I love the idea of having a sleepover in tents for the boys and their friends, maybe I'll nick that idea in one of my next families with kids :-)

  2. Are you doing something different with your pictures, Tanja? The last two updates look a bit brighter and more vibrant than usual. :)

Camping in the backyard was a fun idea for Collin's birthday. My sims haven't done that in a long time! Anyway, Collin should probably stick to those sorts of wholesome activities for a while - he's definitely too young for clubbing! No wonder Harry was so mad at him!

And wow, I can't believe Mairi is pregnant! That's got to be a sim record - I think my Araminta was 51 or 52 when she got pregnant with Elspeth. 54 definitely has her beat. That's unbelievable. I'm hoping they have a girl this time. I'd love to see Camden and Collin being protective older brothers!

  3. Librarian I wasn't expecting them to concieve any more, so this was a surprise for me as well!

It's great fun, having such sleepoves!

    Thanks for reading!

Carla I've noticed the brighter pictures as well, but I have no idea what I've done to get them like this! I still use the in-game camera and I haven't done anyting different with it.
    I like it though :)

The original idea was to have them go down to the camping ground, but this seemed more real, since the boys are only 13 and 14 years old.
When it comes to going out, Collin and Camden are rather different, but Collin should look at his older brother when it comes to this, at least for now!

I couldn't believe it either, I wasn't expecting it myself, and it would have been their last chance anyway. But still I'm looking forward to this baby, and I'm really hoping for a girl as well :)

    Thanks for reading!

  4. This was a fun update, the sleep out in the tent, the arcade, and the beach across the street! Who needs vacation with all those amenities! And wow I am totally shocked that she is having a baby so late in life, it is fun though to have that baby of the family, I thoroughly enjoy Delaney's youngest Lizzie that she had in her fifties. Looking forward to seeing what they have, a little girl would be super sweet. I bet the boys would be great big brothers too, and wow on them going clubbing at 13! Wild boys!!

  5. Maisie I have fun playing out this update, so I'm glad it's fun to read as well :)
I really wasn't expecting them to concieve, but I'm really happy they did anyway. I would love for them to have a girl, but I've been wanting them to have a girl ever since Mairi got pregnant with Camden :)

    Thanks for reading!
